Essaouira offers excellent beginner-friendly surf conditions with consistent Atlantic swells and sandy beach breaks. The water temperature is pleasant year-round (16–22°C). For bigger waves, Sidi Kaouki (25 min south) is one of Morocco's best surf spots.

What is the best season for surfing in Essaouira?

Surfing in Essaouira is great year-round. Winter (October–March) brings bigger swells perfect for experienced surfers. Summer offers gentler waves ideal for beginners. No matter when you visit, you'll find surfable conditions.

Can I surf on windy days in Essaouira?

Very windy days can make surfing challenging as the wind chops up the waves. On these days, we recommend trying wingfoil, kitesurf, or windsurf instead — sports that thrive in the wind! Early mornings before the thermal wind kicks in are often the best time for surf.
